TJ Sizemore is Coffee Operations Officer (COO) for Pendulum Coffee.
I was a kid in college, and like many college kids, needed a job. I pulled out the yellow pages and just started calling places nearby. One of those places happened to be a Starbucks Coffee shop. Unexpectedly and perhaps serendipitously, the manager answered the phone and they were desperately hiring. I went in for an interview that day and started a day later.
I still have this desire to learn more about what coffee has to offer today. This is where Pendulum Coffee came from.
When I got back to the states I searched for a similar experience to what I had in Italy. I found it, but it wasn’t as prominent as it is today. This was in Atlanta where Octane Coffee is considered to be the birthplace of “Thursday Night Throwdowns”. I was so curious about this concept that I began looking harder. I began to find small coffee shops. I didn’t realize these were what we call “specialty coffee shops” today but I knew that they made coffee as a craft and valued the passion and skill that went into every cup.
I still have this desire to learn more about what coffee has to offer today. This is where Pendulum Coffee came from. I want to share my knowledge with anyone who is willing to come on this journey with me.
